IBIS Instruments Presented Fiber Sensing Technology at CIRED Montenegro 2026
IBIS Instruments participated in the 2nd Conference on Power Distribution Networks of Montenegro – CIRED Montenegro 2026, held from June 15 to 18 at Hotel Mediteran in Bečići, Montenegro. This year’s conference brought together more than 250 participants and featured 53 scientific and technical papers presented across seven study committees, further confirming its status as one of the leading regional events dedicated to the development and modernization of power distribution networks.

The conference addressed a wide range of current topics in the field of electricity distribution, including grid digitalization, renewable energy integration, advanced metering systems, the energy transition, and the development of smart grids. The program was further enriched by expert panel discussions focused on power system flexibility, renewable energy integration, and the role of distribution networks in the energy transition process.

As part of the technical program, IBIS Instruments showcased the potential of fiber sensing technology in power distribution networks through a presentation entitled “Harness the Power of Fiber Sensing Technology to Manage, Optimize and Maintain Your Power Distribution Networks,” delivered by Milorad Sarić, Senior Engineer Fiber / Test & Measurement.

The presentation focused on modern solutions for the continuous monitoring of power infrastructure using optical fibers as distributed sensors for measuring various physical parameters. Fiber sensing technology enables real-time data acquisition over long distances along optical fiber cables, allowing operators to detect potential issues at an early stage, improving maintenance planning, and optimize the operation of power systems.
Participation in CIRED Montenegro 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience with industry experts from across the region, gain insight into the latest trends in power distribution, and present innovative technological solutions designed to address the challenges of modern electricity networks.
Through cooperation with leading global manufacturers, IBIS Instruments continues to actively support the development of the power sector by providing advanced solutions for measurement, diagnostics, monitoring, and maintenance of electrical infrastructure to customers throughout the region.
