Optics, Challenges and Innovation – Recap of the 6th Ibis Installers Day
As in previous years, the sixth Ibis Installers Day gathered network installers, technicians, and engineers from across the country and the region, once again confirming the event’s role as a central meeting point for professionals in the field of optical and wireless networks. This year, special focus was placed on the impact of electromagnetic radiation and the innovations brought by 5G technology.
Focus on Innovation, Safety, and New Technologies
The opening part of the event was dedicated to presentations and knowledge sharing. Special guest Sean Wade from Fujikura, along with Milorad Sarić from Ibis Instruments, presented the latest technologies for fiber splicing and optical network testing – highlighting innovations that enable faster, more precise, and more reliable FTTH installations.
A particularly engaging presentation was delivered by Sanja Marković from Ibis Instruments, focusing on topics related to electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure. She addressed current EMF measurement techniques, safety standards, and practical aspects of workplace protection, especially in the context of the accelerated development of 5G infrastructure. Attendees had the opportunity to learn how EMF safety theory is translated into real-life field protocols.
Dynamic Competition – Precision Under Pressure
Following the educational part, the most entertaining and intense segment of the day took place – the traditional fiber splicing competition, a favorite among participants.
The competition was organized as a knockout tournament, with each company nominating its top contestant. In an atmosphere of focus and team spirit, Goran Vasiljević from Blic Net (Bosnia and Herzegovina) took first place and won a Fujikura 45S professional splicer. The second place went to Vladimir Simonović from SBB (Serbia), who received a CT50 cleaver, while Sedat Osmanovski from Elektro Kop (North Macedonia) came in third, winning a CT16 cleaver.
