Vallent's history is the story of three different companies, WatchMark Corp, Metrica and Comnitel Technologies, coming together in November of 2004 as Vallent Corporation. WatchMark Corporation was initially formed in 1990 under US West's Cellular Group in Bellevue, Washington where it operated for approximately four years developing a fault and performance management (PM) platform for the wireless industry. In 1999, WatchMark was established as a separate entity selling PM solutions worldwide.

Comnitel Technologies was founded in 1999 in Cork, Ireland. It offered the first service assurance product designed to manage the quality of service delivered over wireless networks. WatchMark Corp. and Comnitel Technologies merged in October 2003 under the WatchMark-Comnitel name, and a few months later, the team won a contract with Cingular (then AT&T) to deliver the industry's first combined performance management/service quality management system.

Metrica Systems Ltd was formed in 1993 to develop a Unix-based network performance and service quality management software solution. In May 1996 Metrica Systems was acquired by ADC Telecommunications Inc. to form a strategic base for ADC’s expansion into the wireless and network management software markets.

In November of 2004, Watchmark-Comnitel acquired Metrica from ADC Telecommunications, Inc., and in February, 2005, Vallent Corporation was launched worldwide.
